Headlamp Bulb: Removal

Vehicles equipped with halogen headlamps

   Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .

   Remove the headlamp trim panel screws and push pin.

   Release the front three fender moulding retainers and position the fender moulding out.

Vehicles equipped with halogen headlamps

   Remove the pushpins and screw, and position the fender liner aside.

   WARNING: The bulb contains gas under pressure. The bulb may shatter if the glass envelope is scratched or if the bulb is dropped. Handle the bulb only by its base. Avoid touching the glass envelope. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
   NOTE: The headlamp bulb should not be removed from the headlamp assembly until just before a new bulb is installed. Removing the bulb for an extended period of time may affect headlamp bulb performance. Contaminants may enter the headlamp assembly where they can settle on the lens and reflector. Never turn on the headlamps with the bulb removed from the headlamp assembly.
   NOTE: Make sure the headlamp switch and ignition switch are in the OFF position.
   NOTE: The headlamp assembly is shown removed for clarity.

   Remove the low beam bulb cover.

   Remove the low beam headlamp bulb.

      Rotate the low beam headlamp bulb counter clock-wise.

      Disconnect the low beam headlamp bulb electrical connector.

   Remove the high beam bulb cover.

      Disconnect the high beam headlamp bulb electrical connector.

Vehicles with LED headlamps

   Remove the headlamp assembly. Refer to: Headlamp Assembly .

   NOTE: During installation of the low beam headlamp LED module bulb cover, fully seat the cover before installing any screws or water intrusion may occur.

   Remove the screws and the low beam bulb cover.

   NOTE: Use an electrostatic discharge bracelet when working inside the headlamp housing to prevent static discharge damage to the headlamp electronic components.
   NOTE: Use caution when positioning the LED module or damage to the LED module electrical connector may occur.
   NOTE: Use a magnetic screwdriver to prevent the LED module screws from falling into the headlamp housing.

   Remove the screws and position the low beam headlamp LED module.

   NOTE: Do not touch or clean the low beam headlamp LED module lens or damage may occur causing reduced illumination from the low beam headlamp LED module.

   Remove the low beam headlamp LED module.

      NOTE: During installation install the retaining clip included with new components over the headlamp LED module electrical connector.

      Using a right angle pick press and hold the locking tab.

      Disconnect the low beam headlamp LED module.

   NOTE: During installation of the high beam headlamp LED module bulb cover, fully seat the cover before installing any screws or water intrusion may occur.
