All Vehicles
- Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT .
- Remove the front engine cover battery ground cable bracket nut and position the bracket.
- To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
6.8L vehicles
- Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to

6.2L vehicles
- Remove the air intake expansion resonator. For additional information, refer to
INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING
article.
All Vehicles
- Remove the nut and position the generator B+ terminal.
- To install, tighten to 17 Nm (150 lb-in).
- Disconnect the generator electrical connector.
- Remove the battery ground cable-to-starter eyelet nut and position the battery ground cable-to-starter eyelet.
- To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
- Remove the starter solenoid terminal cover.
- Remove the nut and position the starter solenoid positive cable terminal.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
- Remove the nut and position the starter solenoid wire terminal.
- To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
- Remove the battery cable retaining pin from the engine block.
- Remove the battery ground cable-to-frame bolt and position the battery ground cable-to-frame terminal.
- To install, tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
- Remove the battery ground cable-to-frame bracket bolt.
- To install, tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
- Disconnect the engine harness electrical connectors.
- Release the harness retaining pins and remove the cable.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
NOTE:
It may be necessary to position the RH splash shield to access the battery ground cable bolt.
