Differential Carrier: Removal

All vehicles

1.

Remove the differential housing cover. Refer to: Differential Housing Cover .

2.

Remove the axle shafts. Refer to: Axle Shaft .

3.

NOTE: The differential bearing caps and differential bearing cap bolts need to be installed in the same location as removed.

  Mark the differential bearing caps.

  Remove the differential bearing cap bolts.

  Remove the differential bearing caps.

Vehicle equipped with ELD (Electronic Locking Differential)

4.

Remove the ELD bolt and pull the ELD connector adaptor out of the axle assembly housing.

Disconnect the ELD coil electrical connector from the ELD connector adapter.

6.

Remove the differential carrier, differential carrier bearing cups and the differential shims.
