Removal and Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2014 Ford F-150. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
    NOTE: The PMI  process must begin with the current DSM  installed. If the current DSM  does not respond to the diagnostic scan tool, the tool may prompt for As-Build Data as part of the repair.

    Using a diagnostic scan tool, begin the PMI  process for the DSM  following the on-screen instructions.

  2. WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Ignition must remain OFF until repair is complete. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.

    Turn key off, wait one minute.

  3. Move the seat back and up to access the DSM  .

  4. Remove the 2 screws.
    • To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).
  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the DSM  .
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  7. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Using a diagnostic scan tool, complete the PMI process for the DSM  following the on-screen instructions.

  8. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Operate the driver seat, column and pedals through the full range of travel to register stop positions.
