The wheel speed sensor and sensor ring generate a square wave signal to the ABS module that is proportional to wheel speed. The ABS module compares wheel speed inputs from all wheel speed sensors to determine an impending wheel lockup.
| DTC Description | Fault Trigger Conditions |
|---|---|
|
This DTC sets in continuous memory and on demand when the ABS module receives unexpected acceleration on one wheel speed sensor when vehicle speed exceeds 13 km/h (8 mph), and the ABS module detects a difference between wheel speed sensor signals. It can be set by damaged tone rings, mismatched wheel and/or tire sizes or driving the vehicle on one or more deflated tires. |
|
This DTC sets in continuous memory when the ABS module detects a 20% difference in wheel speed between wheel speed sensor signals. To detect multiple missing wheel speed sensors more than one wheel must show a wheel speed 20% below that of the maximum speed of all wheels for at least 2 minutes. |
|
This DTC sets in continuous memory when the ABS module detects a difference in wheel speed between one wheel speed sensor signal and the others that is greater than 25%. |
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Wheel speed sensor
- Tone ring(s)
- Mismatched tires/wheels
- ABS module
