Removal and Installation

WARNING: Do not use any fluid other than clean brake fluid meeting manufacturer's specification. Additionally, do not use brake fluid that has been previously drained. Following these instructions will help prevent system contamination, brake component damage and the risk of serious personal injury.

For additional information, consult the product Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) if available. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.
NOTE: Do not spill brake fluid on painted or plastic surfaces or damage to the surface may occur. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface, immediately wash the surface with water.

All brake flexible hoses 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .

    Caliper brake flexible hose 

  2. Remove the brake caliper flow bolt and discard the 2 copper washers.
    • To install, tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
  3. Remove the brake flexible hose bracket bolt and the brake flexible hose.
    • To install, tighten the bolt to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

    Axle brake flexible hose 

  4. Disconnect the upper brake tube fitting from the brake flexible hose.
    • To install, tighten to 18 Nm (159 lb-in).
  5. Remove the retaining clip.
  6. Disconnect the lower brake tube fitting from the brake flexible hose.
    • To install, tighten to 18 Nm (159 lb-in).
  7. If equipped, disconnect the axle vent hose from the bolt. Remove the brake flexible hose bolt and the brake hose.
    • To install, tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).

    All brake flexible hoses 

  8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
