Pinpoint Test Bi: Pinpoint Test Bi: The Shift To Park Message Is Never Or Always Displayed

  1. BI1 CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION 
    • Close all doors.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Open the driver door while monitoring the message center displays.

    Does the message center display DRIVER DOOR AJAR? 

  2. BI2 CHECK THE PRNDL DISPLAY OPERATION 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Shift the transmission through the ranges and back to PARK (P).

    Does the PRNDL display the correct gear including PARK (P)? 

    • Yes  : GO to BI3  .
    • No  : DIAGNOSE the PRNDL display. GO to PINPOINT TEST X .
  3. BI3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST 
    • Check for recorded IPC  DTCs from the self-test.

    Are any DTCs recorded? 

    • Yes  : REFER to DTC CHARTS .
    • No  : GO to BI4  .
  4. BI4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE BCM SELF-TEST 
    • Check for recorded BCM  DTCs from the self-test.

    Are any DTCs recorded? 

  5. BI5 CHECK FOR CORRECT IPC OPERATION 
    • Disconnect the IPC  connector.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • damaged pins
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect the IPC  connector and make sure it seats correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    • Yes  : INSTALL a new IPC  . REFER to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
