Vehicles equipped with a 3.7L engine: Removal

All vehicles 

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
3. Remove the 3 bolts and lower the underbody shield.
4. Remove the 13 screws and the lower radiator sight shield.
5. NOTE: RH shown in illustration, LH similar.

   Remove the 4 nuts (2 shown in illustration) and the front crossmember brace.

6. Remove both transmission fluid cooler tube quick connect secondary latches.
7. Using the Transmission Cooler Line Disconnect Tool, disconnect the transmission cooler tube assemblies.

   Vehicles equipped with a 5.0L (4V) engine 

8. Remove the starter solenoid terminal cover.
9. Remove the 2 starter solenoid terminal nuts and position aside the wires.
10. Remove the starter wiring harness pin-type retainer from the rear transmission cooler tube bracket.
11. Remove the rear transmission fluid cooler tube bracket-to-transmission nut.
12. Remove the rear transmission fluid cooler tube bracket-to-engine mount nut.

    Vehicles equipped with a 3.7L engine 

13. Remove the rear transmission fluid cooler tube bracket-to-transmission nut.
14. Remove the rear transmission fluid cooler tube bracket-to-engine mount nut.

    All vehicles 

15. Remove the rear transmission fluid cooler tube bolt from the transmission and discard.
16. Remove the rear transmission fluid cooler tube assembly from the vehicle.
17. Remove the front transmission cooler tube assembly from the vehicle. Refer to, Transmission Fluid Cooler .
18. Remove the front transmission cooler tube assembly from the transmission cooler.
