Removal and Installation

All vehicles
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Using hose clamp pliers, clamp the degas bottle-to-engine hose.
- Using a suitable suction device, siphon the coolant from the degas bottle.
- Remove the secondary battery. For additional Information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
- Remove the 2 Charge Air Cooler (CAC) bolts.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (168 lb-in).
- Release the clamp, disconnect the radiator-to-degas bottle hose from the degas bottle and detach the hose from the retainer.
- Detach the 2 battery cable retainers from the degas bottle.

NOTE: The quick connect coupling illustrated is to show the spring clip release location only. The quick connect coupling on the hose may differ.
Pull the degas bottle-to-engine hose spring clip up until the end of the clip is in the detent on the quick connect coupling and disconnect the degas bottle-to-engine hose from the degas bottle.
- To install, push the spring clip in place and connect the degas bottle-to-engine hose quick connect coupling, making sure the coupling is secure.
- If equipped, disconnect the vacuum supply hose.
- If equipped, disconnect the vacuum supply hose retainer.
- If equipped, release the clamp and disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose from the brake booster.
Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) vehicles
- Disconnect the Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) front wheel locking hub vacuum hose.
- Disconnect the vacuum solenoid electrical connector.
All vehicles
- Remove the 4 bolts and the degas bottle.
- To install, tighten to 19 Nm (168 lb-in).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

NOTE: Evaluate the cooling system condition before filling the cooling system. Failure to follow these instructions can damage the engine.
