Removal and Installation

Drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .
If servicing the coolant outlet connection, disconnect the upper radiator hose from the coolant outlet connection.
Remove the 2 bolts, position the coolant outlet connection aside and remove the thermostat. Discard the O-ring seal.
- Inspect the mating surfaces and clean the sealing surfaces with metal surface prep and silicone gasket remover. Follow the directions on the packaging.
- If necessary, install a new thermostat.
- Install a new O-ring seal.
- NOTE: Make sure the coolant outlet connection is seated evenly by hand tightening the 2 thermostat housing bolts prior to final tightening.
  
  To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
