PINPOINT TEST J: DTCs C0051:16 AND C0051:17

NOTE: Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multi-meter probes.
  1. J1 CHECK FOR RELATED DTCs 
    • Review the SCCM DTCs retrieved and recorded during Inspection and Verification.
    • Is DTC B11D9:16 or B11D9:17 present? 
    • Yes  : DIAGNOSE DTCs B11D9:16 and B11D9:17 before diagnosing DTCs C0051:16 and C0051:17. For DTCs B11D9:16 and B11D9:17, GO to PINPOINT TEST I .
    • No  : GO to J2.
  2. J2 CHECK THE STEERING WHEEL ANGLE SENSOR STATUS (SW_ANG_SENS) PID 
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: SCCM DataLogger.
    • Monitor the SW_ANG_SENS PID.
    • Does the PID display CORRECT? 
    • Yes  : The condition that caused the DTC to set is not present at this time. CLEAR the DTCs. DRIVE the vehicle for more than 1 minute at a speed greater than 32 km/h (20 mph) and make at least 1 left turn and 1 right turn. REPEAT the self-test.

      If DTCs C0051:16 or C0051:17 are present, INSTALL a new SCCM. REFER to STEERING COLUMN CONTROL MODULE (SCCM) . TEST the system for normal operation.

    • No  : If the PID displays FAULT, INSTALL a new steering wheel rotation sensor. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) & STABILITY CONTROL . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
