Normal Operation

The Body Control Module (BCM) receives run/start circuit information from the ignition switch and communicates the inputs internally to provide a ground to the run/start relay control circuit. Once activated the run start relay, located in the Battery Junction Box (BJB), provides voltage to the run/start bus. The BCM continually monitors the inputs from the ignition switch to identify correct operation of the circuit. The applicable DTC sets if a circuit failure is detected.
- DTC B1310:12 (Run/Start Control: Circuit Short to Battery) - sets if the BCM determines that the run/start control circuit is shorted to battery during normal operation.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Ignition switch
- BCM
