All vehicles

Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
6.8L vehicles
Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .
6.2L vehicles
Remove the air intake expansion resonator. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .
All vehicles
Release the accessory drive belt tension and remove the drive belt from the generator pulley.
Disconnect the generator electrical connector.
Remove the nut and position the generator B+ terminal aside.
- To install, tighten to 17 Nm (150 lb-in).
6.2L vehicles
Remove the 3 bolts, the generator bracket and the generator.
- To install, tighten to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft).
6.8L vehicles
Remove the 4 bolts and the generator bracket.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
Remove the 2 generator bolts and the generator.
- To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
All vehicles
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
