Removal and Installation

WARNING: All safety belt components must be inspected and corrected as part of any collision repair. Inspect all safety belt components as prescribed by Safety Belt Inspection and Repair After a Collision . Failure to follow this instruction may result in incorrect operation of the safety belt system and increase the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.

Remove the front passenger bucket seat. For additional information, refer to front bucket seat in SEATING .
Open the armrest cover, remove the trim cover and the 2 screws.
NOTE: At assembly, install new clips onto the armrest/storage bin tabs.

Pry up at each of the 7 clip towers to release and separate the armrest/storage bin.
- Remove the tether screw from the backrest assembly and remove the armrest/storage bin.

Remove 2 screws and the safety belt bezel.
Detach the backrest cover from the armrest/storage bin bracket.
Remove the 5 screws and pull the armrest/storage bin bracket away from the backrest frame.
Route the safety belt out through the backrest cover and from between the armrest/storage bin bracket and backrest frame.
Remove the bolt and the safety belt retractor.
- To install, tighten, to 45 Nm (33 lb-ft)
NOTE: Before installation, make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted and the safety belts and buckles are accessible to the occupants.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Check the active restraint system for correct operation. For additional information, refer to the appropriate FUNCTIONAL TEST procedure in Safety Belt System .
