Passenger Air Bag Deactivation (PAD) Indicator - Vehicles without 4.2" LCD IPC display

The PAD indicator is a visual indicator used to inform the front seat occupants of the front passenger air bag state. The PAD indicator is located in the instrument panel as part of the hazard/traction control switch and is visible to each front seat occupant.

For vehicles without a 4.2" LCD IPC display, the RCM controls the state of the PAD indicator through a direct hard-wired connection. The PAD indicator output is based on information provided by the OCSM and illuminates to indicate the front passenger air bag module is disabled. An execption to this is when the front passenger seat is determined to be empty, in which case it is not necessary to indicate that the passenger airbag is disabled. In all other cases, the PAD indicator is unlit when the passenger air bag module is enabled.

The RCM briefly activates the PAD indicator to prove-out the indicator function and verify to the front occupants the PAD indicator is functioning correctly
