Removal and Installation

WARNING: All safety belt components must be inspected and corrected as part of any collision repair. Inspect all safety belt components as prescribed by Safety Belt Inspection and Repair After a Collision under GENERAL PROCEDURES  . Failure to follow this instruction may result in incorrect operation of the safety belt system and increase the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.
  1. For SuperCab, remove the rear seat backrest. For additional information, refer to the appropriate steps in Seat - Rear, SuperCab in the Removal and Installation portion of SEAT SYSTEM - SEATS .
  2. For Crew Cab, remove the rear seat. For additional information, refer to Removal and Installation portion of SEAT SYSTEM - SEATS .
  3. Remove the 5 pin-type retainers and rear sound insulator.

  4. Remove the tower cover bezel.
    • Pry up on the front, middle portion of the nut cover and remove.
    • Remove the nut.
    • Remove the tower cover bezel.
  5. Remove the bolts and turning loop.
    • To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
  6. For SuperCab, remove the nut and safety belt retractor anchor.
    • To install, tighten to 80 Nm (59 lb-ft).
  7. Remove the bolt and safety belt retractor.
    • To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
  8. NOTE: Before installation, make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted and the safety belts and buckles are accessible to the occupants.

    To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  9. Check the active restraint system for correct operation. For additional information, refer to the appropriate FUNCTION TEST procedure under Component Test  .
