If The IDS Scan Tool Does Not Communicate With The VCM

  1. Check the VCM power; examine the connection to the vehicle.
    • The VCM LED illumination prove-out confirms power and ground from the DLC are provided to the VCM.
    • Recommended Practice:  refer to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article, No Power to the Scan Tool, to diagnose no power to the VCM.
  2. Check the scan tool connection to the VCM.
  3. Follow scan tool instructions to retry.
