Window Molding: Removal

  1. Remove the outer belt molding.
    • Release the retaining clip at the rear of the belt molding, then slide the front of the molding off of the flange to remove the belt molding from the door.
    2. NOTE: The window molding is held on by double-sided tape from the forward edge of the molding and by trim clips near the center of the molding. The rearmost edge rolls over the door frame sheet metal.
  2. Starting at the upper forward corner of the molding, insert a suitable removal tool between the molding and the door frame.
  3. Determine the location of the double-sided tape. Carefully spread spray-on adhesive cleaner down the space between the applique and door frame. Allow the cleaner to set for several minutes.
  4. Using the removal tool, begin removing the molding, spraying additional adhesive cleaner as needed.
