Crankshaft Rear Seal: Installation

- Position the installation sleeve onto the crankshaft, slide the new rear crankshaft seal over the installation sleeve onto the crankshaft.
- Remove the installation sleeve.
- Using the Rear Crank Seal Installer, install the new rear crankshaft seal.
- Push the CKP sensor back in place and tighten the bolt.
- Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- Install the cylinder block opening cover.
- Install the crankshaft sensor pulse ring.
- Install the flexplate. For additional information, refer to Flexplate .
NOTE:
Failure to install the rear crankshaft seal with the part numbers facing out may result in engine damage.
NOTE:
Do not use grease or petroleum jelly instead of engine oil. Failure to follow this may result in rear crankshaft seal leakage.
NOTE:
Do not discard the installation sleeve provided with the rear crankshaft seal. It is used for installation of the crankshaft seal.
NOTE:
Check for correct orientation of the installation sleeve prior to sliding the seal on the crankshaft.
NOTE:
Apply clean engine oil to the outer diameter of the crankshaft seal and crankshaft sealing surface.
NOTE:
Do not use magnetic screwdrivers or other magnetic tools around the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor and the crankshaft sensor pulse ring or damage to the components may occur.
