Manual Control Lever Shaft & Seal: Installation

- Using the Shift Shaft Fluid Seal Installer, install the manual control lever shaft seal.
- Loosen the 2 bolts on the Transmission Range (TR) sensor.
- Install the manual control lever shaft.
- Install the manual control lever shaft retaining pin into the case.
- Install a new manual control valve detent lever retaining pin.
- Tighten the 2 TR bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- Install the transmission fluid pan, gasket and filter. For additional information, refer to FLUID PAN, GASKET AND FILTER .
- Connect the selector lever cable end.
- Adjust the selector lever cable. Verify that the vehicle starts in PARK and NEUTRAL and the reverse lamps illuminate in REVERSE. For additional information, refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION EXTERNAL CONTROLS .
NOTE:
Prior to installing the manual control lever shaft seal, clean the bore opening with mineral spirits.
NOTE:
Leave a small portion of the pin exposed.
NOTE:
When the manual control lever shaft retaining pin is installed correctly, 2 mm (0.078 in) of the pin will be exposed.
