Axle Shaft: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2012 Ford Pickup and 2012 Ford Cab & Chassis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: The hub and the axle shaft flange mating interface must be clean and free from oil, grease or any other contaminates before the axle shaft is completely pressed into the hub or damage to the components can occur.
NOTE: To ease the axle shaft installation into the hub, lightly lubricate the O-ring seal with grease prior to installing it on the axle shaft.
NOTE: Verify that the O-ring seal is fully seated in the axle shaft O-ring gland after installation.
