Output Shaft Seal - Flange Yoke, 4WD: Removal

All vehicles 

1. With the vehicle in PARK, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .

   Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) vehicles 

2. Remove the transfer case. For additional information, refer to TRANSFER CASE .

   Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) vehicles 

NOTE: It may be necessary to tap the driveshaft yoke with a plastic or rubber soft-faced hammer if a pry area is not present on the driveshaft side.
3. Index mark the rear driveshaft. Remove and discard the 4 bolts and position the rear driveshaft aside.
   • Support the driveshaft using mechanics wire.

4. Remove the bolt and remove the driveshaft flange.

   All vehicles 

NOTE: The output shaft nut is coated with Loctite®. Failure to loosen the Loctite® by not applying heat to the output shaft nut can cause damage to the Output Shaft Nut Socket.

5. Apply heat to the output shaft nut to soften the Loctite®. Using the Output Shaft Nut Socket, remove the output shaft nut.
6. Using the Torque Converter Fluid Seal Remover and the Slide Hammer, remove the output shaft seal.
