Pinpoint Test B: P087A, P087B, P087E, P090A, P090B, P090C, P090D

  1. B1 READ AND RECORD ALL DTCS
    • Using the diagnostic scan tool, retrieve all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    Are Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) P087A, P087B, P087E, P090A, P090B, P090C and/or P090D present? 

    1. Yes: For Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) P087A, P087B and/or P087E, GO to B2 

      For Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) P090A, P090B, P090C and/or P090D, GO to  B7

    2. No: REFER to: Special Testing Procedures  .

      Clutch 2.

  2. B2 CHECK HALL-EFFECT SUPPLY VOLTAGE
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect Clutch Motor C1634.
    • Inspect the connector for damaged or pushed-out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and missing or damaged seals.
    • Ignition ON.
      NOTE: Clutch motor Hall-effect supply voltage should measure 5.1 volts with the ignition switch in the RUN position.
    • Measure.

      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the voltage is greater than 5.2 volts? 

    1. Yes: GO to  B5
    2. No: GO to B3 
  3. B3 CHECK THE HALL-EFFECT SUPPLY VOLTAGE CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    • Disconnect TCM C1750B.
    • Inspect the connector for damaged or pushed-out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and missing or damaged seals.
    • Measure.

      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      C1634-1 Ω C1750B-55

    Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    1. Yes: GO to B4 
    2. No: REPAIR the circuit.
  4. B4 CHECK THE HALL-EFFECT SUPPLY VOLTAGE CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    • Measure.

      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      C1634-1 Ω -

    Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    1. Yes: GO to  B6
    2. No: REPAIR the circuit.
  5. B5 CHECK THE HALL-EFFECT SUPPLY VOLTAGE CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO POWER
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect TCM C1750B.
    • Inspect the connector for damaged or pushed-out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and missing or damaged seals.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Measure.

      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the voltage greater than 5.2 volts? 

    1. Yes: REPAIR the circuit.
    2. No: REPLACE clutch motor 2 with clutch motor 1 and GO to B6 
  6. B6 RUN COMPONENT TEST

    Are Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) P087A, P087B and/or P087E present? 

    1. Yes: INSTALL a new TCM.

      REFER to: Transmission Control Module (TCM)  .

      PROGRAM the TCM with the latest calibration,

      REFER to: Transmission Control Module (TCM) Adaptive Learning  .

    2. No: INSTALL a new clutch motor,

      REFER to: Clutch Actuator Motor  .

      PERFORM the Clutch Adaptive Learn, REFER to: Transmission Control Module (TCM) Adaptive Learning  .

  7. B7 CHECK THE CLUTCH MOTOR 3 PHASE CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect TCM C1750B.
    • Disconnect Clutch Motor C1634.
    • Inspect the connectors for damaged or pushed-out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and missing or damaged seals.
    • Measure.

      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      C1634-5 Ω C1750B-56
      C1634-6 Ω C1750B-2
      C1634-7 Ω C1750B-1
      C1634-8 Ω C1750B-3

    Are the resistances less than 5 ohms? 

    1. Yes: GO to B8 
    2. No: REPAIR the circuit.
  8. B8 CHECK THE CLUTCH MOTOR 3 PHASE CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    • Measure.

      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      C1634-6 Ω -
      C1634-7 Ω -
      C1634-8 Ω -

    Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    1. Yes: REPLACE clutch motor 2 with clutch motor 1 and GO to B9 
    2. No: REPAIR the circuit.
  9. B9 RUN COMPONENT TEST

    Are Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) P090A, P090B, P090C and/or P090D present? 

    1. Yes: INSTALL a new TCM.

      REFER to: Transmission Control Module (TCM)  .

      PROGRAM the TCM with the latest calibration,

      REFER to: Transmission Control Module (TCM) Adaptive Learning  .

    2. No: INSTALL a new clutch motor,

      REFER to: Clutch Actuator Motor  .

      PERFORM the Clutch Adaptive Learn, REFER to: Transmission Control Module (TCM) Adaptive Learning  .
