Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

The OSS sensor is a magnetic pickup and measures the input speed of the output shaft and sends this signal to the TCM. The OSS sensor is used for TCC scheduling and shift time. The rotation direction is not measured. The OSS sensor is located in the transmission housing above the rotor in the differential. If DTC P1934 or P193F are set along with OSS sensor DTC, follow the OSS sensor diagnostic routines. If DTC U0402 sets along with P1934 then the TCM is reporting invalid data to the PCM.

DTC FAULT TRIGGER CONDITIONS

DTC Description Fault Trigger Conditions
P0720 Output Shaft Speed Sensor Circuit OSS sensor fault detected.
P0721 Output Shaft Speed Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Erratic OSS sensor signal - noisy signal, out of range high, or not plausible. Detection of this fault is disabled if a power supply P06A8 or circuit fault P0720 is present.
P0722 Output Shaft Speed Sensor Circuit No Signal OSS sensor failed to 0 speed when the ABS wheel speed sensors indicate vehicle speed. Detection of this fault is disabled if a power supply P06A8 or circuit fault P0720 is present.
P0723 Output Shaft Speed Sensor Circuit Intermittent This DTC sets along with P0720, P0721 and/or P0722. Used to turn on the wrench light.
