Valve Cover: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2013 Ford Focus. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    NOTE: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges which make leak paths.

  1. Clean the specified component with the specified material.

    Material  : Motorcraft® Metal Surface Prep / ZC-31-A

  2. NOTE: Installation of new seals is only required if damaged seals were removed during disassembly of the engine.

  3. Special Tool(s)  : 205-153 (Handle)  , 303-1247/2 (Installer, VCT Spark Plug Tube Seal)

  5. Apply a bead of the specified diameter from the specified tube.

    Material  : Silicone Gasket and Sealant / TA-30 (WSE-M4G323-A4)

  6. NOTE: The valve cover must be secured within 10 minutes of silicone gasket application. If the valve cover is not secured within 10 minutes, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with metal surface prep.

  7. Material  : Motorcraft® Metal Surface Prep / ZC-31-A

    Torque  : 10 Nm

  8. Torque  :

    1 10 Nm

    2 25 Nm
