Pinpoint Test

CHECK THE ENGINE COOLING FAN (FAN_DSD) PCM PID OPERATION
1. Ignition ON.
2. Using a scan tool, view PCM PIDs .
3. Monitor the PCM PID FAN_DSD.
4. Command the to drive the cooling fan from 0 to 100% of performance and confirm the fan increases speed as the percentage of performance commanded is increased.
  Does the fan speed increase as the commanded performance is increased?
  - Yes: REFER to Refrigerant System Tests , procedure 2 to DIAGNOSE the A/C system.
  - No : Install a new cooling fan, REFER to COOLING FAN MOTOR AND SHROUD - 2.0L GTDI , or REFER to COOLING FAN MOTOR AND SHROUD - 3.5L TI-VCT .
