Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE AUTOLAMP/SUNLOAD SENSOR REFERENCE VOLTAGE
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: Autolamp/Sunload Sensor.
    3. Ignition ON.
    4. Press the AUTO button.
    5. For DTC B1A63:11 or B1A63:15, measure:

    6. For DTC B1A64:11 or B1A64:15, measure:

    Is the voltage between 4.7 and 5.1 volts? 

    • Yes: INSTALL a new autolamp/sunload sensor.
    • No: If DTC B1A63:15 and DTC B1A64:15 are both set, GO to .

      If diagnosing DTC B1A63:11 or DTC B1A64:11, GO to  5.

      If diagnosing DTC B1A63:15 or DTC B1A64:15, GO to  3.

  2. CHECK THE AUTOLAMP/SUNLOAD SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: HVAC Module C228B.
    3. Measure:
      Autolamp/Sunload Sensor Ground

      C286 Ground
      Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit
      4 GD215 (BK/GY)
      G08033017
      - Ground

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    • Yes: INSTALL a new autolamp/sunload sensor.
    • No: REPAIR the circuit.
  3. CHECK THE AUTOLAMP/SUNLOAD SENSOR FEEDBACK CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
    1. For DTC B1A63:15, measure:
      HVAC Module Autolamp/Sunload Sensor

      22 VH417 (YE/OG)

    2. For DTC B1A64:15, measure:

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: REPAIR the circuit.
  4. CHECK THE AUTOLAMP/SUNLOAD SENSOR FEEDBACK CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
    1. For DTC B1A63:15, measure:
      Autolamp/Sunload Sensor Ground

    2. For DTC B1A64:15, measure:

    Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    • Yes: GO to  6.
    • No: REPAIR the circuit.
  5. CHECK THE AUTOLAMP/SUNLOAD SENSOR FEEDBACK CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: HVAC Module C228B.
    3. For DTC B1A64:11, measure:
      Autolamp/Sunload Sensor Ground

      - Ground
    4. For DTC B1A63:11, measure:
      Autolamp/Sunload Sensor Ground

    Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: REPAIR the circuit.
  6. CHECK FOR CORRECT HVAC MODULE OPERATION
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect and inspect all HVAC module connectors.
    3. Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    4. Reconnect the HVAC module connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
    5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    • Yes: CHECK OASIS  for any applicable TSBs  . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs  address this concern, INSTALL a new HVAC module. REFER to Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) Module .
    • No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
