Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE HVAC MODULE DTCs
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Review the recorded DTCs  from the HVAC module self-test.

    Is DTC C1B14:11 present?

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: GO to  5.
  2. CHECK THE REFERENCE VOLTAGE CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: HVAC Module C228A.
    3. Disconnect: HVAC Module C228B.
    4. Disconnect: Auxiliary Climate Control Assembly.
    5. Measure:
      HVAC Module Ground
      G08032979
      G08032980
      C228A Ground
Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit
      24 LH111 (BN/WH)
      G08032981
      - Ground

Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: REPAIR the circuit.
  3. CHECK THE REFERENCE VOLTAGE CIRCUIT AND THE SIGNAL RETURN CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TOGETHER
    1. Connect: Auxiliary Climate Control Assembly.
    2. Measure:
      HVAC Module HVAC Module
      G08032982
      G08032983
      C228A C228A
Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit
      24 LH111 (BN/WH)
      G08032984
      23 RH111 (GY/BU)

Is the resistance greater than 200 ohms?

    • Yes: GO to  6.
    • No: GO to .
  4. CHECK THE ACTUATORS
    1. Measure:
      HVAC Module HVAC Module
      G08032985
      G08032986
      C228A C228A
Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit
      24 LH111 (BN/WH)
      G08032987
      23 RH111 (GY/BU)
    2. While measuring the resistance, disconnect the components one at a time, in order. Stop disconnecting components if the measured resistance rises above 200 ohms:
      • Defrost/panel/floor door actuator
      • LH temperature blend door actuator
      • RH temperature blend door actuator
      • Recirculation door actuator
      • In-vehicle temperature/humidity sensor
      • Auxiliary mode door actuator
      • Auxiliary temperature blend door actuator
      • Auxiliary climate control assembly

Did the resistance rise above 200 ohms?

    • Yes: INSTALL a new component in question (the last one to be disconnected).
    • No: REPAIR the circuits.
  5. CHECK THE REFERENCE VOLTAGE CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: HVAC Module C228A.
    3. Ignition ON.
    4. Measure:
      HVAC Module Ground
      G08032988
      G08032989
      C228A Ground
Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit
      24 LH111 (BN/WH)
      G08032990
      - Ground

    Is any voltage present?

    • Yes: REPAIR the circuit.
    • No: GO to .
  6. CHECK FOR CORRECT HVAC MODULE OPERATION
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect and inspect all HVAC module connectors.
    3. Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    4. Reconnect the HVAC module connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
    5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present?

    • Yes: CHECK OASIS  for any applicable TSBs  . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs  address this concern, INSTALL a new HVAC module. REFER to Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) Module .
    • No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
