Removal and Installation

  1. Drain the powertrain secondary cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
  2. Remove the 2 bolts, the low temperature thermostat cover and the low temperature thermostat.
    • Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
    • To install, tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
  3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Install a new low temperature thermostat O-ring seal and lubricate it with clean engine coolant.
  4. NOTE: Evaluate the cooling system condition before filling the cooling system. Failure to follow these instructions can damage the engine or cooling system.
