Removal and Installation

  1. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
  2. Disconnect the block heater electrical connector.
  3. Remove the block heater.
    • Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
    • To install, tighten to 41 Nm (30 lb-in).
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Install a new O-ring seal and lubricate it with clean engine coolant.
  5. NOTE: The cooling system condition must be evaluated before filling the cooling system. Failure to follow these instructions can damage the engine or cooling system.
