Disassembly and Assembly

All seats 

  1. Remove the 60 percent or 40 percent backrest. For additional information, refer to SEAT BACKREST - REAR, CREW CAB .
  2. Press the release tab on each head restraint guide sleeve and pull the head restraint free of the seat back.
  3. Remove the clip and backrest latch handle.

    60 percent seat 

  4. NOTE: When removing the armrest bolts, retain the washers from behind the armrest swivel arms.

    Remove the 4 armrest bolts and armrest assembly.

    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  5. Remove the 2 pin-type retainers and insert panel.

    All seats 

  6. Release the backrest trim cover lower J-clip.
  7. Remove the RH and LH pin-type retainers holding the backrest trim cover at the rear.
  8. NOTE: Use care when separating the backrest trim cover from the hook-and-loop strip, or the hook-and-loop strip can be torn from the backrest foam.

    Invert the backrest trim cover and release the hook-and-loop strips.

  9. Squeeze the 2 tabs together on each head restraint guide sleeve and push them out.
  10. Remove the 60 percent backrest cover.
  11. Remove the 40 percent backrest trim cover hog rings and backrest trim cover.
  12. Remove the backrest foam pad from the backrest frame.

    60 percent seat 

  13. Pry to release the cable anchor, swivel the cable end and remove.
  14. Detach all the cable clips.
  15. Pry to release the other cable anchor, swivel the cable end and remove.
  16. Remove the bolts and LH backrest latch.
    • To install, tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb-ft).
  17. Remove the bolts and center backrest latch.
    • To install, tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb-ft).

    40 percent seat 

  18. NOTE: Use care not to damage the bushing. If damaged, install a new bushing.

    Carefully pry the center support from the bushing.

    • If necessary, remove the bushing.
  19. Remove the bolts and RH backrest latch.
    • To install, tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb-ft).

    All seats 

  20. To assemble, reverse the disassembly procedure.
