Disassembly and Assembly

  1. To remove individual parts, only carry out the listed steps as identified in the following table.
    SEAT BACKREST COMPONENTS - REMOVAL STEPS

    Backrest Cover 2-14 and 18
    Backrest Disassembly and Assembly 2-18
  2. Remove the seat. For additional information, refer to SEAT - FRONT, 20 PERCENT .
  3. Remove the latch cover.
    • Pull out to disengage the 2 pin-type retainers.
    • Pull the latch cover over the latch and slide down.

  4. Remove the RH outboard cover.
    1. Remove the screw.
    2. Disengage the retainers from the RH inboard cover.
    3. Pull out to disengage the pin-type retainer.
  5. Remove the LH outboard cover.
    1. Remove the screw.
    2. Disengage the retainers from the LH inboard cover.
    3. Pull out to disengage the pin-type retainer.
  6. Loosen but do not remove the 2 cushion pivot bolts.
    • To install, tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
  7. Remove the backrest assembly retainers.
    1. Remove the latch-to-backrest frame bolts.
      • To install, tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).
    2. Remove the backrest stop bolt.
      • To install, tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
    3. Remove the backrest pivot bolt.
      • To install, tighten to 45 Nm (33 lb-ft).
  8. Remove the backrest assembly.
    1. Pry and separate the latch from the backrest frame.
    2. Tip and pull the backrest assembly away from the support assembly.
    3. Remove the backrest assembly.
  9. Remove the 2 head restraint guide sleeves. For additional information, refer to HEAD RESTRAINT GUIDE SLEEVE .
  10. Open the armrest cover, remove the trim cover and the 2 screws.
  11. NOTE: At assembly, if the clips are not securely retained to the armrest/storage bin tabs, the tabs may be worn. Install a new armrest/storage bin.

    Pry up at each of the 7 clip towers to release and separate the armrest/storage bin.

    • Remove the tether screws and the armrest/storage bin.

  12. Remove 2 screws and the safety belt bezel.
    • To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
  13. Detach the backrest cover from the armrest/storage bin bracket.
  14. Separate and remove the backrest cover from the foam pad.
    • Route the safety belt out through the backrest cover.
  15. Remove the backrest foam pad.
  16. Remove the 5 screws and the armrest/storage bin bracket.
  17. Remove the bolt and the safety belt retractor.
    • To install, tighten to 45 Nm (33 lb-ft).
  18. NOTE: Before assembly, make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted and the safety belts and buckles are accessible to the occupants.

    To assemble, reverse the disassembly procedure.
