Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) Sensor

The CPP sensor has 2 pedal position signals, CPP1 and CPP2. The CPP1 and CPP2 signals are positive slopes, increasing pedal travel, and increasing duty cycle, but are offset and increase at different rates. The CPP signals are converted to percent of pedal travel by the PCM. During normal operation, the CPP is used as the indication of the clutch pedal position by the PCM strategy. The 2 pedal position signals make sure the PCM receives a correct input even if one of the signals has a concern.

The PCM determines if the CPP1 and CPP2 signals are valid by testing for out of range frequency and duty cycle, and correlation between the CPP1 and CPP2 signals. If a concern is present with one of the signals, the other signal is used by the PCM. There is 1 reference voltage circuit, 1 signal return circuit, and 2 signal circuits between the PCM and the CPP sensor. The CPP sensor is typically mounted on the clutch master cylinder or pedal assembly
