Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2013 Ford Explorer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The ELR  is a vehicle-sensitive feature designed to activate and lock the safety belt webbing during hard braking, cornering, or an impact of approximately 24 kmh (14.9 mph). The ELR  feature helps to reduce the forward movement of the driver and passengers. For testing, refer to COMPONENT TESTS  and the appropriate FUNCTIONAL TEST .
