Liftgate Latch
The liftgate latch contains the liftgate release motor and the liftgate ajar switch. The liftgate latch release motor is supplied voltage by the BCM when the liftgate release switch is pressed and the doors are unlocked.
On vehicles with a liftgate lock cylinder, a cable connects the lock cylinder to the liftgate latch. When a correctly cut key is used to open the liftgate, the cable manually releases the liftgate latch.
When using a keyfob or an IKT to release the liftgate on vehicles with the police package, the BCM uses a separate output to provide voltage directly to the liftgate latch. This allows the liftgate to be opened regardless of the ignition state.
