Seat Backrest: Removal

NOTE:
To prevent system failure, carry out the OCS
reset when a front passenger seat cushion is disassembled, a new trim cover is installed or an OCS
service kit is installed. Use scan tool to carry out the OCS
reset command.
NOTE:
For parts identification and location, refer to SEAT - EXPLODED VIEW, FRONT .
- Remove the seat. Refer to SEAT .
- Detach the carpet flap toe-kick retainers from under the seat.
- Remove the scrivet and push pin retainer from the recliner cover.
- Remove the recliner cover.
- Slide the recliner cover toward the front of the seat.
- Remove the inboard recliner inner cover.
- If equipped, remove the manual recline handle.
- For manual seats, remove the seat switch delete cover.
- For power seats, remove the power seat switch. Refer to SEAT CONTROL SWITCH .
- Remove the cushion side shield rear inner bolt.
- Remove the cushion side shield.
- Remove the 2 outboard cushion cover J-clips.
- If equipped, remove the manual lumbar cable.
- Remove the 2 J-clips from the rear of the cushion cover.

Remove the outboard cushion cover J-clip and strap from the backrest frame.

Release the side air bag module electrical connector and wire harness retainers under the seat.
- Disconnect the side air bag module electrical connector.
- Slide the locking clip back.
- Push the tab in and disconnect the electrical connector.

If equipped, disconnect the backrest electrical connector and release the wire harness retainers attached under the seat.
- Remove the 4 recliner-to-seat track bolts.
- Position the seat backrest rearward and detach the 2 J-clips form the cushion cover.

Remove the backrest assembly
- Route the wire harnesses through the holes in the carpet flap toe-kick.
