WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2013 Ford F-550 Super Duty, 2013 Ford F-450 Super Duty, 2013 Ford F-350 Super Duty, and 2013 Ford F-250 Super Duty. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Install the transmission fluid pan drain plug.
- Tighten to 18 Nm (159 lb-in).
-
NOTE: The use of any transmission fluid other than specified may result in the transmission failing to operate in a normal manner or transmission failure.NOTE: Do not drive the vehicle if transmission fluid level is low. Internal transmission failure could result.
Fill the transmission through the transmission fluid filler tube.
- If ONLY the transmission fluid drain plug or pan was removed, add 7.8 L (8.2 qt.) of transmission fluid.
- If the main control was removed, add 9.7 L (10.2 qt.) of transmission fluid.
- If the transmission was removed and disassembled, add 15.3 L (16.2 qt.) of transmission fluid.
- Start the engine. Move the selector lever through all gear ranges while checking for engagements to allow the main control hydraulic circuits to fill with transmission fluid.
- Using the scan tool with the engine running, check and make sure the transmission is at normal operating temperature 91-102°C (196-216°F). Check and adjust the transmission fluid level and check for any leaks. If transmission fluid is needed, add transmission fluid in increments of 0.24L (0.5 pt.) until the correct level is achieved.
Item Description 1 DO NOT DRIVE IF BELOW THIS LEVEL AND AMBIENT TEMPERATURE IS ABOVE 10°C (50°F) (Underfill). Recheck transmission fluid level at normal operating temperature and adjust as required. 2 Normal operating range 3 DO NOT DRIVE LEVEL (Overfill). Remove excess transmission fluid. Recheck transmission fluid level at normal operating temperature and adjust as required.
