Instrument Panel Upper Section: Removal

Before beginning any service procedure, refer to SAFETY WARNINGS
. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
- All vehicles except Police Interceptor. Remove the front floor console. Refer to CONSOLE - FRONT, FLOOR .

NOTE: RH side shown in illustration, LH side similar.
Police Interceptor vehicles only. Remove the LH side and RH side center lower instrument panel finish panels.
- Police Interceptor vehicles only. Remove the center lower instrument panel finish panel.
- Remove the LH and RH scuff plate trim panels. REFER to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
- Position aside the LH and RH door weather strips.

Remove the LH and RH instrument panel side trim panels.

Remove the LH and RH cowl side trim covers.
- Remove the steering column. REFER to STEERING WHEEL .
- Remove the lower LH instrument panel trim panel.
- Remove the IPC . REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
- Unclip the in-car tempreature sensor harness from the instrument panel upper section.
- Remove the GPSM

For Premium audio system, refer to GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM MODULE (GPSM) .
For Premium Plus audio system, refer to GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM MODULE (GPSM) .
For Sony® Sound audio system, refer to GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM MODULE (GPSM) .
- Remove the hood release handle bolt and remove the hood release handle.
- Remove the glove compartment door. Refer to GLOVE COMPARTMENT .
- Remove the glove compartment trim panel.
- Disconnect the glove compartment electrical connector.
- Remove the 8 screws and remove the glove compartment close out.

NOTE: Apply threadlock to the passenger side air bag to in-vehicle cross beam bolts prior to installation.
Remove the 2 passenger side air bag to in-vehicle cross beam bolts.

Disconnect the RH and LH passengers side air bag electrical connectors.
- Remove the ACM , refer to AUDIO CONTROL MODULE (ACM) . Remove the FDIM , refer to FRONT DISPLAY INTERFACE MODULE (FDIM) .
- Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector or the push button start switch electrical connector.
- If equipped, remove the instrument panel speaker and grille as an assembly.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the defroster grille.
- Remove the 10 instrument panel upper section screws.
- Gently pull the RH side of the instrument panel upper section rearward and detach the defroster grille electrical harness push pin from the HVAC
duct.

NOTE: To avoid damaging the upper section, the aid of an assistant is required to carry out this step.NOTE: Make sure that all electrical connectors and wiring are not hindered before removing the upper section or damage to the components may occur.
Remove the instrument panel upper section.
