Catalytic Converter - 2.0L GTDI: Installation

  1. Install the new gasket on the catalytic converter.

  2. NOTE: Position the new catalytic converter-to-turbocharger clamp in the position noted during removal.

    Position the new catalytic converter-to-turbocharger clamp on the catalytic converter inlet flange.

  3. NOTE: Do not tighten the 2 catalytic converter-to-bracket nuts at this time.

    Install the catalytic converter along with the catalytic converter-to-bracket spacers, spacer plate and loosely install the 2 nuts.

  4. Install the new catalytic converter-to-turbocharger clamp over both the catalytic converter inlet flange and the turbocharger outlet flange.
    1. Tighten to 20 Nm (177 lb-in).

  5. Tighten the 2 catalytic converter-to-bracket nuts.
    1. Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

  6. Connect the CMS  electrical connector and attach the wiring clip.

  7. Install the exhaust flexible pipe. Refer to CATALYTIC CONVERTER - 2.0L GTDI .
  8. Install the HO2S  . REFER to HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (HO2S) - 2.0L GTDI .
  9. Start the engine and check for exhaust leaks.
