Main Control Cover - 3.5L Ti-VCT: Removal

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. REFER to JACKING AND LIFTING , Lifting Points.
- Remove the ACL . REFER to INTAKE AIR SYSTEM COMPONENTS - EXPLODED VIEW .
- Remove the transmission fluid drain plug and allow the transmission fluid to drain.
- Install the transmission fluid drain plug.
- Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
- Loosen the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler tube fitting from the thermal bypass valve.
- Remove and discard the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler tube bolt and remove the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler tube.
- Inspect the transmission case and make sure the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler tube seal and backing ring were removed with the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler tube and are not stuck in the transmission case. If the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler tube seal or backing ring is stuck in the transmission case, remove the seal and backing ring.
- Disconnect the transmission electrical connector and remove the wiring harness fastener from the main control cover stud.
- Remove the nut and the ground strap from the main control cover stud bolt.
- Remove the 2 transmission fluid cooler thermal bypass valve nuts, pull the transmission fluid cooler thermal bypass valve straight up and position it aside.

NOTE: Note the location of the studbolts for assembly.
Remove the 14 main control cover bolts and the main control cover.
