Pinpoint Test O: Lost Communication U0140, U0141

  1. O1 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Carry out the network test.

    Did the BCM pass the network test? 

    1. Yes  : GO to O2  .
    2. No  : REFER to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK to diagnose no communication with the BCM  .
  2. O2 CHECK THE TCM CMDTCs 
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Carry out the self-test and retrieve DTCs.
    • Clear the DTCs.
    • Wait 10 seconds.
    • Repeate the self-test.

    Is DTC U0140 present? 

    1. Yes  : GO to O3  .
    2. No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  3. O3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE TCM SELF-TEST 
    • Check for recorded DTCs from the TCM  self-test.

    Are DTCs P0702, P0882, P0883, P0884 or P1397 present? 

    1. Yes  : REFER to CHARGING SYSTEM .
    2. No  : GO to O4  .
  4. O4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE ABS SELF-TEST 
    • Check for recorded DTCs from the BCM  self-test.

    Are DTCs U0303:16 or U0303:17 present? 

    1. Yes  : REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES .
    2. No  : GO to O5  .
  5. O5 CHECK FOR DTC U0140 SET IN OTHER MODULES 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Carry out the self-test for all modules.
    • Retrieve the CMDTCs from all modules.

    Is DTC U0140 set in the ABS or in the IPC? 

    1. Yes  : CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, discontinue this test and follow TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES .
    2. No  : CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, discontinue this test and follow TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new TCM  . REFER to TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) . PROGRAM the TCM  with the latest calibration level. PERFORM the Solenoid Body Strategy Download procedure. REFER to SOLENOID BODY STRATEGY DOWNLOAD .
