Pinpoint Test N: Lost Communication U0121, U0129, U0415

  1. N1 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Carry out the network test.

    Did the ABS module pass the network test? 

    1. Yes  : GO to N2  .
    2. No  : REFER to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK to diagnose no communication with the ABS  module.
  2. N2 CHECK THE TCM CMDTCs 
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Carry out the self-test and retrieve DTCs.
    • Clear the DTCs.
    • Wait 10 seconds.
    • Repeat the self-test.

    Are DTCs U0121, U0129 or U0415 present? 

    1. Yes  : GO to N3  .
    2. No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  3. N3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE TCM SELF-TEST 
    • Check for recorded DTCs from the TCM  self-test.

    Are DTCs P0702, P0882, P0883, P0884 or P1397 present? 

    1. Yes  : REFER to CHARGING SYSTEM .
    2. No  : GO to N4  .
  4. N4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE ABS SELF-TEST 
    • Check for recorded DTCs from the ABS  self-test.

    Are DTCs C1B14:11, C1B14:12 or C1B14:1C present? 

    1. Yes  : REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) AND STABILITY CONTROL .
    2. No  : GO to N5  .
  5. N5 CHECK FOR DTC U01210 SET IN OTHER MODULES 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Carry out the self-test for all modules.
    • Retrieve the CMDTCs from all modules.

    Is DTC U0121 set in the PCM or in the IPC? 

    1. Yes  : CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, discontinue this test and follow TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) AND STABILITY CONTROL .
    2. No  : CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, discontinue this test and follow TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new TCM  . REFER to TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) . PROGRAM the TCM  with the latest calibration level. PERFORM the Solenoid Body Strategy Download procedure. REFER to SOLENOID BODY STRATEGY DOWNLOAD .
