Exhaust Manifold - RH: Installation

  1. NOTE: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges which make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of old sealant.

    Clean the exhaust manifold mating surface of the cylinder head with metal surface prep. Follow the directions on the packaging.

  2. NOTE: Hand start the studs first.

    Install the 8 new RH exhaust manifold studs.

    • Tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
  3. Install new gaskets, the RH exhaust manifold and 8 new nuts. Tighten in the sequence shown in illustration.
    • Tighten to 20 Nm (177 lb-in).

  4. Tighten the A/C compressor stud bolts.
    • Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
  5. Connect the wiring harness retainers onto the A/C compressor and stud bolts. Install the retaining nut.
    • Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

  6. Position the SC drive belt onto the A/C compressor pulley.
  7. Position the underbody shield and install the 3 bolts.
    • Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

  8. Using the Engine Support Bars, lower the engine onto the engine support insulator.

  9. Install the upper radiator sight shield and the 8 pin-type retainers.

  10. Install the RH engine support insulator nut.
    • Tighten to 63 Nm (46 lb-ft).
  11. Rotate the SC drive belt tensioner clockwise and install the drive belt onto the SC drive pulley.

  12. Install the catalytic converter. Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM .
  13. Install the EGR tube. Refer to ENGINE EMISSION CONTROL .
