Crankshaft Pulley: Removal

NOTE: During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan, can cause engine failure.

NOTE: The Boss® 302 requires Motorcraft® SAE 5W-50 Full Synthetic Motor Oil, all other 5.0L (4V) engines require Motorcraft® SAE 5W-20 Premium Synthetic Blend Motor Oil.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
Remove the cooling fan motor and shroud. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
Remove the accessory drive and A/C compressor belts. For additional information, refer to ACCESSORY DRIVE .
Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt and washer.
Using the 3 Jaw Puller and the crankshaft pulley bolt, remove the crankshaft pulley.
- Discard the crankshaft pulley bolt.
