Removal and Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2013 Ford Mustang. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan, may cause engine failure.
  1. Depending on the valve tappets being serviced, remove the LH and/or the RH camshafts. For additional information, refer to CAMSHAFT - RH  and/or the CAMSHAFT - LH .
  2. NOTE: If the components are to be reinstalled, they must be installed in the same positions. Mark the components for installation into their original locations.

Remove the valve tappets from the cylinder head.
