Removal and Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2013 Ford Mustang. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: To prevent system failure, it is necessary to carry out the OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR (OCS)  system reset when a front passenger seat cushion is disassembled, a new trim cover is installed or an OCS system service kit is installed. A scan tool is used to carry out the OCS system reset.
NOTE: For parts identification and location, refer to SEAT - EXPLODED VIEW, FRONT .
NOTE: Note all wire harness routing for correct installation.
  1. Remove the seat. For additional information, refer to SEAT - FRONT .
  2. Remove the clip and recline handle.
    • Access the clip from between the cushion cover and side shield.
    • Use a suitable tool to pull the clip forward and release.
  3. Remove and discard the cushion side shield.
    • Remove the screw at the rear of the cushion side shield.
    • Separate the side shield and retainers from the seat.
    • Disconnect the electrical connector. Remove the seat control switch knob and seat control switch.
    • If equipped, disconnect the electrical connector and remove the power lumbar switch.
    • Remove and discard the cushion side shield.
    • Remove any remaining retainers from the seat and discard the one-time use retainer clips.
  4. Disconnect the seat position sensor and detach the wire harness retainer.
    • If installing a new seat track, remove the bolt and seat position sensor.
  5. Separate the side air bag module electrical connector and wire harness from the seat track bracket.

  6. For heated seat or if equipped with power lumbar, release the cushion cover rear J-clip, disconnect the electrical connector(s) and separate the wire harness from the cushion frame.
  7. Disconnect the seat track motor electrical connector, and separate the seat wire harness from the seat track motor and seat track bracket.
  8. Disconnect the safety belt buckle electrical connector and separate the wire harness from the seat track.
  9. Release all cushion cover retainers from the cushion frame.
  10. Lift the cushion foam pad for access and remove the 4 nuts and seat track.
  11. If a new seat track is being installed, remove the bolt and safety belt buckle.
