Transmission Draining and Filling

NOTE:
When filling the transmission, start the engine and shift the transmission through all gears to eliminate any trapped air in the transmission fluid cooling system.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Remove the drain plug and drain the transmission.
- Clean the drain plug. Apply threadlock and sealer to the plug threads and install the drain plug.
- Tighten to 27 Nm (20 lb-ft).

NOTE: Before removing the fill plug, clean the area around the fill plug.
Remove the fill plug.
- Using a oil suction gun, fill the transmission with the specified fluid until it is even with the oil fill plug hole.
- Install the fill plug. Start the engine and shift the transmission through all the gears to eliminate any trapped air in the transmission fluid cooling system.
- Remove the fill plug.
- Using a oil suction gun, fill the transmission with the specified fluid until it is even with the oil fill plug hole.
- Transmission capacity is 3.96L (4.18 qt).
- Apply threadlock and sealer to the plug threads and install the fill plug.
- Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
