DTC P0116: Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit Range/Performance

DTC P0116: ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR 1 CIRCUIT RANGE/PERFORMANCE

Description:  This DTC sets when the vehicle has been driven above 1, 250 RPM without the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor signal increasing above 70°C (158°F). The time to set the concern depends on the engine coolant and intake air temperatures and can vary between 20 and 60 minutes.
Possible Causes: 
  • Low engine coolant level
  • Damaged thermostat
  • Damaged ECT sensor
  • Damaged PCM
Diagnostic Aids:  Make sure the intake air and engine coolant temperatures are similar when the engine is cold. Make sure the ECT sensor and the actual engine operating temperatures are the same.
Application  Key On Engine Off  Key On Engine Running  Continuous Memory 
All GO to PINPOINT TEST K .
