Exhaust Manifold - RH: Removal

  1. Remove the RH catalytic converter. REFER to CATALYTIC CONVERTER - RH, FWD , or REFER to CATALYTIC CONVERTER - RH, AWD .
  2. Disconnect the RH HO2S  electrical connector.

  3. Remove the 6 nuts and the RH exhaust manifold.
    1. Discard the nuts and gasket.
  4. Clean and inspect the RH exhaust manifold. REFER to EXHAUST MANIFOLD CLEANING AND INSPECTION .
  5. Remove and discard the 6 RH exhaust manifold studs.

  6. NOTE: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These may cause scratches and gouges resulting in leak paths. Use a plastic scraper to clean the sealing surfaces.

    Clean the exhaust manifold mating surface of the cylinder head with Motorcraft® Metal Surface Prep. Follow the directions on the packaging.
