Pinpoint Test

BYPASS THE BCM

NOTE: If the fuse in the jumper wire fails, refer to the appropriate wiring diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. REFER to the OEM WIRING DIAGRAMS . After the repair:
If DTC U1000:00 is present, CLEAR the DTCs and REPEAT the on-demand self-test (required to enable the backlighting output driver if DTC U1000:00 is present).
If DTC U3000:49 is present, INSTALL a new BCM:

REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITH INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) , or

REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITHOUT INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) .

Ignition OFF.
Disconnect: BCM C2280B.

Connect a fused jumper wire:

BCM			Battery

C2280B			Positive
Connector-Pin	Circuit	Measurement / Action	Connector-Pin	Circuit
40	VLN04 (VT/GY)		-	Battery Positive

Do the backlighting components illuminate?

Yes: REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to 2 .
No: REMOVE the jumper wire. VERIFY the BCM fuse 12 (15A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the BCM dimmable backlighting output circuit for an open.

CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION
1. Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors.
2. Repair:
  - corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
  - damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
  - pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
3. Reconnect the BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
1. Yes: CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM:
  REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITH INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) , or
  
  REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITHOUT INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) .
2. No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
